Provost Candidate to Visit Campus Next Week

    Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 04/18/2018 - 1:51pm

    Dear faculty and staff members,

Last year, a search committee worked diligently to identify candidates for the position of provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.

Dr. David Danahar has served ably in that post since being named interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs in August 2016. His appointment, however, was always intended to be temporary. The search committee, assisted by an executive staffing agency, has pursued candidates whose education, experience and personalities would make them a good fit for this vital role on a more permanent basis.

    Power of Inclusion

    Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 03/28/2018 - 7:06am

I’ve been reflecting on UL Lafayette’s Women’s Leadership Conference, which I attended a couple of weeks ago. It was one of several events held during Women’s History Month.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Katrice Albert, executive vice president for inclusion and human resources at the NCAA. She reminded audience members that they have the power, as individuals and a group, to challenge paradigms that have historically excluded women.

Education & Enforcement to Halt Hazing

    Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Tue, 03/20/2018 - 10:20am

Dear students, faculty and staff members,

During National Hazing Prevention Week in September, I shared with you that we were reviewing our policies and stepping up our efforts against hazing.

In the past six months, we’ve made progress with our Greek-letter organizations. For example, in addition to existing University efforts, an interactive risk management seminar and an Interfraternity Council summit have been slated on campus this spring. Also, several organizations have participated in training by their international headquarters’ staff.

Student Research: 2020 Quality Enhancement Plan

    Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 03/14/2018 - 4:05pm

Dear students, faculty and staff members,

UL Lafayette is preparing for its 2020 reaccreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Once every 10 years, as part of the reaccreditation process, the University identifies a Quality Enhancement Plan. The QEP is a campus-wide initiative that provides a measurable way for us to demonstrate our commitment to supporting student learning.
