Thankful

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 11/21/2012 - 3:35pm

Dear Faculty, Staff & Students,

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are reminded of how much we have to be grateful for.

All the progress we’ve made over the past year despite difficult circumstances is a result of the efforts of people who care deeply about our University.

I am thankful for the enthusiasm of our students, the dedication of our faculty and staff and the loyalty of our alumni and friends.

National Spotlights

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Mon, 10/22/2012 - 5:19pm

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

It has been an exciting semester for UL Lafayette. First, I am proud of our freshmen class, which is the most academically prepared incoming class that we have ever welcomed. The class average high school GPA is a 3.3 with an average ACT score of 23. The class includes 87 high school valedictorians. Also, the Honors Program grew by 15 percent.

2012-2013 Budget

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 08/01/2012 - 6:38pm

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We will soon begin an academic year and remain optimistic as we welcome new students and colleagues to our campus community.

When we initially projected enrollment for the coming year, we expected that tougher academic requirements would negatively impact freshman enrollment.  One forecast projected a 30 percent decrease in first-time freshmen.  But, thanks to our Enrollment Management Division and many of you, we now expect a much smaller decrease in freshmen this fall and have already seen a 60 percent increase in summer enrollment.

New Minor in Sociology

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 07/11/2012 - 7:08pm

Dear Faculty & Staff:

I am writing today regarding recent media attention that has prompted discussions about the LGBT studies minor that began earlier this year at our university.

Some media outlets have erroneously reported that UL Lafayette is offering a degree program or “major” for LGBT studies.   The university offers no such degree program.  A major or degree program entails approval from the UL Lafayette administration, the Board of Supervisors for the UL System and the state Board of Regents.
