Thank You for Another Successful Year

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Tue, 05/08/2012 - 12:56pm

Dear Faculty & Staff,

As we approach the end of another academic year, I would like to take a moment to congratulate you on a successful Spring semester.  Most of all, thank you for your dedication to our students and for keeping UL Lafayette moving forward.

I would like to recognize those faculty and staff who have been dedicated to the university for many years and are now retiring.  We appreciate your years of service, we are pleased that you will be enjoying more time with your family, and we will miss you.  Please come back to visit, attend events, and keep abreast of the university's progress.

At the campus update meeting a few weeks ago, I reviewed the master plan, which will be unveiled soon, and discussed the state of our university's finances.  We are making great progress despite the budget restraints and repeated cuts we've endured over the last few years.  At the end of the presentation, a faculty member stood and asked a question:  In light of the financial challenges we are dealing with, what can we do to help?

His question conveyed a generosity of spirit that defines our university family.

I asked him, and ask all of our faculty and staff, to please continue the outstanding work you do -- focus on the success of our students, the value of your colleagues, and the progress of the university.  Make sure to let others know of the university's accomplishments.  Our brand is only as strong as the way we communicate it and demonstrate it through our work.

Branding and reputation aside, the core strength of a university is its people.  People make a university great.  You make our university great!  Thank you.

Have a wonderful and safe summer!

Sincerely,

E. Joseph Savoie
