Meet Our New VP for University Advancement

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 12/17/2014 - 11:32am

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that John Blohm (pronounced bloom) is our new Vice President for University Advancement.

John is interim Vice President for Advancement at the University of New Haven. He will join us in January, and his official appointment is subject to approval by the UL System Board of Supervisors.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the vice president search. After John’s visit to campus, I heard positive comments from many who met him. Besides a series of meetings, he attended a Ragin’ Cajuns football game, where he went out of his way to learn about the university and community by talking to everyone he could, from donors to diehard alumni.

John spent his college years in Michigan, and his professional career of institutional advancement spans universities across the South. Prior to his tenure at New Haven, he was Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Virginia Commonwealth University. He had leadership roles at the University of Arkansas, Emory University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University of Florida.

John is an accomplished advancement professional with extensive knowledge of development. He plans to improve operations to maximize fundraising and enhance alumni relations, communications and marketing across the University.

He is eager to advance the University’s growing national reputation and has expressed interest in further developing a “culture of giving” at UL Lafayette.

We look forward to John’s arrival to campus in January.

Sincerely,

E. Joseph Savoie
