December 8, 2009 — Best Wishes
Dear Students,
Commencement ceremonies on December 19 will mark the official end of the Fall 2009 semester. It has been a remarkable semester. Collectively and individually, the work of our students has brought recognition to the university. From the BeauSoleil Team that represented you on an international stage by competing in the 2009 Solar Decathlon, to the young woman who is leading an effort to replace centuries-old live oaks lost during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita along Louisiana’s coast because she believes that every individual can make a difference, you have proven that you can accomplish anything when you are passionate and willing to work hard. So, I urge you to apply that same kind of passion and work ethic during these last few days of the semester as you take final exams.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season. I look forward to your safe return to campus in January. If you are graduating on December 19, please accept my congratulations on behalf of the entire university family.
Good luck,
E. Joseph Savoie
