Advanced Methods for Ethics Reporting
Dear Faculty and Staff:
Events in the national spotlight are a reminder that we, as members of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette community, must always conduct ourselves in ethical and lawful manners. We have a responsibility to hold our institution and our colleagues to the highest standards.
The university takes alleged violations of federal and state laws and university policy seriously. We remain committed to supporting individuals who call to our attention any practices that may violate laws or policies. You are encouraged to approach your supervisor. However, we also understand that, at times, you might prefer to report outside your chain of command or to make a report anonymously.
The university has launched a new third-party service you can find at louisiana.edu/ethicsreport or contact by calling 855-503-8074, to report suspected unethical or illegal activity by a UL Lafayette employee, contractor, volunteer or other representative. The reporting system covers an array of concerns, including possible safety risks and NCAA compliance violations.
After exploring ways to improve available reporting options, we contracted with EthicsPoint to provide this new phone and Internet-based reporting system. EthicsPoint serves more than 400 educational institutions and is endorsed by the Association of College and University Auditors.
The new system replaces the drop box in the Martin Hall mailroom and provides a toll-free phone number. It is available all hours of the day, and allows you to report violations and follow up on the report using an assigned case number.
Every day, UL Lafayette employees do an excellent job of representing our high standards. Several major improvements were made last year, including better operational controls and implementation of mandatory ethics training for all employees. These improvements, along with our new reporting system, reflect our commitment to ethical practices.
