September 2 — Welcome Back to Campus

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 09/02/2009 - 7:19am

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I hope your first days of the semester were enjoyable and productive.  To all who are new to our campus, I extend a warm welcome and best wishes on behalf of the UL family.  For our returning faculty and staff, welcome back…it’s great to have you home.

Last year at this time I was reacquainting myself with our beautiful campus and gaining a greater appreciation for the areas of excellence throughout the university.  As I listened to you and heard about the challenges you face and opportunities you hoped to seize, my appreciation for your dedicated service grew enormously.

We’ve made measurable progress in many areas this past year and despite budget reductions we look forward to the year ahead.  You have undoubtedly noticed and perhaps even been annoyed by disruptions caused by our ongoing efforts to improve facilities, grounds and services.  I ask your continued patience as we move forward on this much needed work.

I am hopeful for your continued effort in helping to address our budget challenges which will include conserving resources and making operational changes to save money.  And, I anticipate the continued enthusiasm and camaraderie of our people who make UL the special place that it is.

Have a great semester!
