New Vice President for Student Affairs

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Fri, 04/25/2014 - 10:55am

We look forward to your return on Monday after the Spring break.

As we enter the final part of the Spring 2014 semester, it’s my pleasure to let you know that I have named Patricia Frilot Cottonham as the University’s vice president for Student Affairs.

Ms. Cottonham has been associated with the University for 40 years, starting as a student who earned a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology. After practicing in that field for five years, she became a financial aid counselor. Since then, she has served as director of Financial Aid, director of Greek Affairs, and associate dean of students.

Since 2009, Ms. Cottonham has been interim dean of students and since 2012, she has been interim vice president of Student Affairs. Her responsibilities have been varied and extensive; she has handled them with a genuine concern for students’ welfare and academic success. She has earned the respect and admiration of peers, many of whom conveyed their support for her.

Ms. Cottonham was chosen after a nationwide search conducted by a committee composed of University faculty and staff members, undergraduate and graduate students, student organization leaders and advisors, alumni and parents.

We wish you the best for the remainder of the semester. Good luck on your final exams and end-of-the semester projects.

We are eager to see graduating seniors at the Cajundome to celebrate Commencement on Saturday, May 17.

Geaux Cajuns!

Sincerely,

E. Joseph Savoie
