New Systems and Processes Launching

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Thu, 03/17/2016 - 3:45pm

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff Members,

I am pleased to share with you the good news that the University is nearing the launch of the first phase of our new internal data system powered by Banner.

We began converting to the new system 15 months ago as part of our University Strategic Plan. Our goals for the new system include improved services, better student retention and streamlined processes.

Students, faculty and staff have invested thousands of hours to assist with realigning our policies and procedures in preparation for the new system. The students who’ve tested the system have been overwhelmingly pleased with the new interface.

The campus community will now see changes more directly. Next week, students and their advisers will access the new system for class registration and advising for the Fall 2016 semester.

Throughout the rollout, the campus community will receive messages and be asked to take steps, such as activating your new ULID.

Changes present both challenges and opportunities. We will have to adjust to new procedures. For students registering for classes, the new system will require that prerequisites and corequisites be met when scheduling.

During the conversion, each of us, at times, will have to access both the old and new systems. For example, the academic history of students will still be on the old system, while they are registering for classes on the new one.

I appreciate your patience throughout this conversion process. Please be courteous to one another, and to advisers, the IT Service Desk and Registrar’s Office. Everyone is working hard to make this implementation successful.

Ultimately, students, faculty, and staff members will gain from the improved academic and business processes. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Dr. E. Joseph Savoie
