New Louisiana.edu Launched

Dr. Joseph Savoie -- Wed, 04/03/2013 - 8:27am

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students: We’ve reached a greatly anticipated milestone—the University has launched a new website. It features an easy-to-use content management system. More importantly, our new website better conveys who we are and reflects the dynamic people, programs and places that make up our university.

This site has been a priority in strategic efforts to strengthen our University brand, connect with prospective students, and better communicate with our students, alumni, supporters, and others.

A close partnership between the Office of Communications and Marketing and the Office of Information Technology set the stage for an effective redesign and refocus of the University’s online presence. Their combined efforts resulted in a site that is highly branded, with an emphasis on usability, consistency, and constantly changing features to keep users informed and engaged.

The process of updating site information has been streamlined, thanks to a switch to a user-friendly content management system that is used by many major corporations and universities. So, we encourage you to frequently review your websites to make sure they have the latest information. Our Web Team is ready to help you out if you have questions or need some guidance.

Today we launched the “main” University website, along with new sites for Admissions and Housing. We will continue to move forward as we rebuild and launch additional sites. Revised sites across the University will be appearing in upcoming weeks, so keep a lookout.

As you can imagine, rebuilding nearly 200 University sites will take quite a while. Your patience is appreciated.

Communications and Marketing will continue to lead the development of University sites and messaging, while IT will manage the technical workings necessary to run a website environment of this size. Aimee Bullinger, associate director of Web communications, is the point person for all UL Lafayette websites and University social media pages.

For any technical questions or issues, contact the Help Desk at 482-4357.

We would like to thank all students, faculty, staff, and alumni who participated in user testing of the new site to help us refine and improve the design. If you have questions or comments, visit the new contact page at http://louisiana.edu/contact.
